Jurrien Timber has reportedly become Erik ten Hag’s priority center-back target ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.
Should Manchester United seal the deal, the 20-year-old would be able to get his favorite shirt number at Old Trafford.
The Dutchman has already shown a preference for the no.2 jersey, wearing it for both Ajax and the Netherlands national team.
Victor Lindelof currently wears that jersey at Old Trafford, having been handed the number since his transfer from Benfica in 2017.
However, the Swede wore the no.14 shirt during his time in Portugal and could switch to it now that its previous owner — Jesse Lingard — is gone.
Therefore, should Lindelof agree to take Lingard’s shirt number, Timber would be able to pick the no.2 if he moves to Man United ahead of the 2022/23 season.
