In this our latest transfer round-up, we have listed a number of players who could join Man United in the summer transfer window after making significant changes to their coaching board.
Erik ten Hag is likely to have a busy summer window and sign players that fit his project at Old Trafford.
Below is the possibility of each of the players listed to join Manchester United this summer as the Dutch manager kicks off underground works at Old Trafford.
Frenkie de Jong – 5/10
Ever since a reliable Barcelona journalist broke the news that Man United were talking with Barca over a deal to sign Frenkie de Jong, a lot has happened. De Jong is eager to play in the Champions League, something United can’t guarantee next season.
But Erik ten Hag keeps calling him every day to convince him, even though Frenkie himself doesn’t want to leave. The uncertainty around this deal makes it difficult to predict right now, as absolutely anything can happen before the summer transfer window opens.
Jurrien Timber – 7.5/10
The Red Devils are holding talks with Ajax over Timber, as per the Mirror. Timber has worked with Ten Hag at Ajax and holds a lot of respect for the gaffer. If Ten Hag really pushes for this deal, it can easily pan out quickly and Timber can be the defensive signing United needs in the summer.
N’Golo Kante – 4/10
Ten Hag reportedly sees N’Golo Kante as an ideal summer signing, as he believes the Chelsea midfielder can vastly improve United’s midfield and also be a role model for the youngsters. But Chelsea is highly unlikely to sell Kante to a direct rival, even if he’s become injury-prone and is in decline.
Borna Sosa – 6/10
Likened to David Beckham, Borna Sosa is the player Ten Hag wants to improve his left-back position at United. He can be available for £26m and would be more than willing to join them. As long as the budget for this transfer is allocated, it could end up happening.
Darwin Nunez – 7/10
United have emerged as one of the major contenders to sign Benfica’s goal machine Darwin Nunez, who scored 31 goals last season. The Uruguayan is reportedly keen on a Premier League move and United are seriously interested. As long as the Red Devils pay the rumored fee of €60m-€70m, he could become the new striker Ten Hag wants at Old Trafford.
Sergej Milinkovic-Savic – 5/10
If Paul Pogba leaves, United will need a replacement. Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is an ideal one because his playing style is extremely similar to Pogba. United have been linked as one of the favorites to sign him (as per Calciomercato) and he’d be willing to join them. But Lazio’s huge €70m+ demands can make this difficult to pull off.
Matthijs de Ligt – 2/10
With Matthijs de Ligt’s release clause set to become active in the summer, United have been named as one of the clubs that can be interested to sign him. The problem is that his release clause is €120m and it’s virtually impossible that the Red Devils will pay that high a fee for a center-back in the summer
Victor Osimhen – 2/10
As per Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport, United have contacted Napoli to enquire about signing Victor Osimhen in the summer. But Napoli won’t sell their most expensive player ever, signed for €70m, for cheap. United are unlikely to pay over €80m-€90m striker who is not really among the best in the world.
