Discussing his playing style in an interview with De Telegraaf, Ajax winger Antony said: “There will always be people who think the tricks are really cool and people who disapprove of them.
“I think my actions are functional because I want to show the opponent that I’m the boss. And often it results in a goal or an assist.
“So I don’t really care what others think. Regardless of the praise or the criticism, I keep my focus.”
The Brazilian winger, who has been linked with Manchester United, is known for his snazzy tricks with the ball at his feet.
He played a key role in Ajax’s Eredivisie win under Erik ten Hag last season and has been touted to follow the Dutch boss to Old Trafford.
The winger scored 12 goals and provided four assists across competitions in 2021/22, with Ajax reportedly wanting €60 million to sell him.
