The transfer window began on June 10 and so far, Chelsea have not yet made any signings. A couple of players have left, but no one has arrived.
Fans are getting frustrated at the lack of transfer activity, with targets such as Raphinha and Ousmane Dembele now reportedly out of Chelsea’s reach.
19 players are back in team training too. So, with the clock ticking, can fans expect a new arrival possibly this week?
Well, the answer to that is hopefully yes – the Raheem Sterling deal seems likely to be wrapped up in a few days time.
As per reliable source Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are ‘in contact’ with Manchester City regarding the Sterling transfer.
There were ‘positive talks’ held on July 1 and Romano said that the two teams’ representatives will meet again to finalise the details regarding the transfer soon.

Chelsea are ‘pushing’ for the deal and Todd Boehly reportedly wants to make ‘two marquee signings’ this summer. He is eager to close the Sterling deal and we should see some movement on that front by this weekend.
The Matthijs de Ligt deal will take more time as final fee details and personal terms are yet to be sorted and these things don’t happen within a week.
Meanwhile, Hakim Ziyech to AC Milan is a possible departure – the Italian club want him on loan and Romano reported that there has been contact between the clubs, with Ziyech and Tuchel both open to the move. We could see this transfer being announced in a few days too.
Hopefully, once both these transfers happen (Ziyech and Sterling), we should start to see some progress on other fronts as well.
