Chelsea have seemed to be inactive in the transfer market so far following the new club takeover. However, some tier one sources have hinted that the Blues are making some backroom plans to give the club a good future under Todd Boehly’s ownership.
With the above in mind, here are some of the latest transfer news gathered from sources close to Chelsea over the week;
Chelsea’s Interest In Sterling Is Genuine – Fabrizio
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Blues’ interest in the England international is ‘genuine’ as they look to bolster their attacking options.
However, there still have not been talks with Man City, with Chelsea waiting to hear how much it would cost to buy the player whose contract expires in a year.
Chelsea’s interest in Sterling is confirmed by The Athletic, as well as the bit about the lack of talks between the clubs.
Azpilicueta ‘under pressure’ to hand in a transfer request
As per The Sun, Barcelona urge the Chelsea captain to be more proactive in pushing his way out – but the player is reluctant.
The Spanish club is growing frustrated with a lack of progress in their attempts to sign the Chelsea captain this summer.
At the same time, Azpilicueta might want to go but is reluctant to push for an exit due to his love for the club where he has spent a decade.
Tuchel keen on Lewandowski as Lukaku replacement
The main problem for Chelsea is that the Bayern striker prefers Barcelona as his next destination, ESPN claims.
The Bayern striker has publically announced his desire to leave the German club and the Chelsea boss sees him as the ideal striker for Chelsea.
However, as per the report, there are ‘significant obstacles’ to this transfer. The first and most obvious one is that Lewandowski wants to move to Barcelona and has not listened to any other team’s offer yet.
Secondly, other big clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United are ready to rival Chelsea should Barca fail to sign Lewandowski.
Last but not least, the Blues need to confirm Lukaku’s departure to Inter before any move can be made for the Ballon d’Or runner-up.
Dembele hints he wants to contune at Barca
In a conversation with a fan, the French winger said that he would be staying at Barcelona despite interest from Chelsea.
A Barcelona fan has recorded his street conversation with Ousmane Dembele.
“You’re staying at Barca?” the fan asks.
“Yeah,” Dembele responds.
“I heard you might go to Chelsea. Tuchel, aren’t you interested?” the fan prompted the winger.
“I feel good at Barca,” the player finishes up.
Dembele’s Barcelona contract expires on June 30 and he has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea.
We don’t know if the winger has changed his mind and decided to renew his contract with the Spanish club or if he’s just being diplomatic with fans until he reaches an agreement with another team.
