Danny Murphy recently had some thoughts he shared about how Eriksen would fit into the Man United team. He believes because of his similar profile to Bruno Fernandes, they would not start in the same XI together and possibly behind him in the pecking order.
“I think United are only going to play with one No.10,” said Murphy. “If you think you are going to get Eriksen and Fernandes in a midfield three and be able to compete with the best teams athletically and defensively, you have got no chance.
“He (Eriksen) will play his fair share of games because you do not have the same XI every week. I think it is five substitutions this season as well, so there will be impacts off the bench.

“But he is not going to play ahead of Fernandes. Some people might prefer him to Fernandes but his numbers do not suggest that he is at Fernandes’ level.”
Eriksen has responded to those claims, suggesting he will adapt to play wherever Ten Hag requires him to.
“Before I came, I spoke to [Ten Hag] about how he sees me as a player and where he sees me. He didn’t mention any players.
“Obviously, he puts the team out and picks who’s going to start, and then from there on you adapt to whoever you’re playing with.
“I’ll be happy wherever; I’ve always been like that. I try to adapt to the position I’m playing in.”
