Speaking on Breaking the Lines, Diego Forlan said: “I think that Darwin Nunez is a very good player, a good kid who is doing really well at Benfica and is enjoying a strong season. It is not just the Portuguese league where he is doing well.
“In the Champions League too, where he scored six goals this season and helped take Benfica to the quarter-finals. He is a player who has a lot of potentials and he could fit in at Manchester United. But everyone needs to have patience.
“He would not be a bad signing for Man United. It is a club that gives you time, that makes you feel comfortable and as if you are in a familiar place, very cosy and nice. It would be spectacular having him playing for Man United.”
Nunez has established himself as one of the deadliest marksmen in Europe this season, scoring 34 goals in 41 games across all competitions for Benfica so far in 2021/22.
The Uruguayan has emerged as a transfer target for the Man United with the Red Devils amid the uncertainty surrounding the futures of Cristiano Ronaldo, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood.
