When asked if he’ll stay at Ajax next season amid heavy links to a Man United move, Jurrien Timber said: “Of course I can develop further at Ajax. I am 100 per cent sure of that, I don’t feel like I’m done at the club.
“I can also develop at other clubs. I am now focusing on the upcoming international matches and then go on holiday, then I’ll have to think about it some more.
“In the end, my gut feeling will be the deciding factor. The picture has to be right. You can go to a big club, but if you’re not going to play there it’s better to stay with Ajax, and Ajax is also a big club.”
It’s clear that Timber wants regular playing time if he was to join Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford. The Mirror also claims that the Dutchman is worried that a move to United could jeopardize his chances of making the Netherlands’ FIFA World Cup squad.
Jurrien feels he could be overlooked by Louis van Gaal if unable to hold down a regular spot at United upon joining them.
The Red Devils are speaking with Ajax over a move, but it remains to be seen if Erik can convince Timber to join him at United.
