According to Duncan Castles’ article in The Times, Cristiano Ronaldo has asked to be allowed to leave Manchester United this summer.
He hopes United will grant him that request if a suitable offer arrives.
The 37-year-old does not want to miss a year of Champions League football after playing in the competition for 19 consecutive years.
He also believes he has three or four more years at the highest level and wants to play for a team that would give him the biggest chance to add to his achievements.
Besides, there are some personal reasons for Ronaldo to leave Manchester after a difficult period for his family.
Bayern Munich and Chelsea have been linked with Ronaldo in the last few days, but neither side has an obvious interest in the forward.
Previously, both Ronaldo and Erik ten Hag expressed the desire to work with each other in the coming season – but the Portuguese feels United should show more ambition in the transfer market.
Could such stories be a way for him to push the club to be more proactive with their signings?
